Mara 70 - The Best Thread Choice

Gutermann Mara 70 is the best thread choice for sewing MYOG gear with a home machine using standard needle sizes.
Though heavier duty than the typical polyester or polyester wrapped threads found on store shelves, Mara 70 still feeds smoothly through the machine and needle with no issue.
I have built two backpacks from coated Robic 210 and similar tough coated fabrics. The thread feeds reliably through multiple layers of these durable fabrics without fraying. Same positive outcome when zig zag bar tacking through multiple layers of nylon webbing. Breathable rain gear, ultralite silnylon tarps, a bunch of stuff sacks, fanny packs, all sewn using Mara 70.
I made a two person ultralite tent from 1oz and 1.43oz Dyneema fabric. Mara 70 was a great choice for every tent body seams, as well as sewing the finicky noseeum door panels and zippers.

Great thread!

I changed from cotton thread to Gutermann MARA 70 thread on my domestic sewing machine to sew bags and purses. It's strong, durable and the price is great. The color selection is okay and not all the photos show the colors accurately on my screen. A light tan color might be a nice addition.

Worked great for my lightweight underquilt and hammock!

I bought the blue and white versions of these threads and they have proved very useful for thin lightweight material. It comes on a massive spool so you'll have plenty to work with. Great all-around thread!
