Traced the 3 panel pattern to gridded wrapping paper, making adjustments.
Adjusted and straightened side seams to make single panel with darts for fit, removing seam allowance. Made front panels symmetrical. Added 4 inches to bottom, with extra half inch in back.Â
Taped pieces together and traced to silpoly with heat erasable pen, marking darts.
Cut with fine tipped soldering iron at 400°c to mimic hot knife (old refrigerator shelf for a tempered glass cutting surface). Hot knife cuts and melts simultaneously to avoid needing to hem edge. I found the process worthwhile as I just slowly traced my lines and the material stuck to the glass until I pulled it apart, but my work surface was small.Â
I folded at the marked dart but just sewed it in with the waist, like an angled "pleat." Pinned grosgrain, sewing lengthwise across middle then bottom of the ribbon. Added snaps (thinking every two inches represents a size, so I can add if it needs sized up or down). Because the edges were neatly melted I did not hem anything.
I made the stuff sack as practice then sewed it in because it's nicely oversized and holds my phone. 1.5mm draw string with barrel knot closure.Â
