I wanted a bugnet that could fit my hammock and 2 small sleeping pads in the bottom for my twins. I found a design I liked but I needed 2 of them and $170 each was more than I was able to spend. I studied pictures and got an idea of how it was made and did my best to recreate it. It took me 3 days start to finish but I was also chasing my 10 month old twins at the same time, so someone with dedicated time to sew could probably manage it in half that time.
I used 2.0 hex70 xl for the bathtub floor. I cut it 65 x 113 And sewed an 8 1/2” boxing’s each corner to make the tub. I cut the bugnet back in one solid piece 101” across the top and 145 across the bottom. The front was cut in 3 separate pieces to add in the zipper. The door was cut 49” wide by width of fabric for the length and the sides were cut 27” at the top and 49” at the bottom by width of fabric. One Long side of each front side piece was angled and the Other straight. The zipper was sewn to the door and then the front sides and floor. Then the front was sewn to the back on the sides and the top and sewn to the floor. I added extension pieces on the ends with Paracord drawstrings and cordlocks. The extension pieces measured 10” long by 10” wide at the drawstring end and 15” wide where it was sewn into the side. I top stitched all seams and then put 3/4” grosgrain over the side seams and across the top. I added loops on the front about 18” down to be able to draw the net out some for comfort. I sewed grosgrain loops into my corner seams on my tub to stake it out and loops where the net joined the tub in the corners for extra tie outs if needed.
