Thanks for your review Dutch! Enjoy the Climashield APEX and let us know if you have any questions about creating, we're here to help!
I used Apex 2.5 & 1.1 ripstop to make a small underquilt / camp snuggie. It weighs nothing and is much warmer than any commercially available camp throw. Easy on the wallet and delightfully water resistant, too. My only challenge is wrestling it away from the cat when I want to use it.
We're glad you're staying warm Cara! Making your own camp blanket is a great way to get exactly what you want and save money. We'd love to see photos, be sure to tag us on social media or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Made a full length Apex underquilt with two layers of 2.5 under the top 46 inches and one layer under the rest. Expect it to be good to 40 deg.
I previously used the 5 oz for a top quilt; this purchase also for top quilt. Sewing the 5 oz material to the inverted quilt "envelop" taught me that my sewing machine pulls the material significantly, so I hand-stitched the perimeter of the 2.5 oz, which took less time than fighting and seam ripping required on the 5 oz effort. Material is great.
Hi Dan, Thanks for the review! That's a great tip about hand sewing the perimeter.
I made a synthetic dog quilt for my dog to match our custom down quilts from Underground quilts. I used the same outer and inner fabrics as UGQs, also purchased from ripstopbytheroll. My dog loves her quilt.
