Climashield APEX reaches new heights in combinations of weight and thermal efficiency. Developed from a culmination of over 25 years of manufacturing experience, this innovative insulation is the lightest and most thermally efficient continuous filament insulation on the market today. Like other high-end synthetics, it also maintains warmth in wet and humid conditions.

Due to it's unique continuous filament construction, Climashield APEX requires little to no quilting. This makes it easier to work with when compared to other synthetic insulations that require quilting panels to avoid shifting/migration. Great for sleeping bags, outer wear, and quilts.

Chimashield APEX also delivers superior warmth at lighter weights with its unique, continuous filament properties, reducing the overall weight of a sleeping bag, jacket or pair of pants. Climashield APEX insulation is highly compressible and maintains thermal efficiency even after multiple uses, being stretched, packed or washed.

For additional information, please read more below or visit the Climashield website HERE.

    * Sold by the linear yd, just like fabric . For example, entering a qty of "1" gets you a 36"x60" piece.

IMPORTANT - Due to size and packaging constraints, our standard max continuous cut for all insulation is 5 yds. If you're ordering more than this and need specific cut lengths for your project, please put a note on your order with cut instructions. We're happy to work with you to make things work!

Climashield APEX - 5 oz/sq yd

Thanks for your review Garrett! If you have any questions about making with the APEX insulation let us know, we're here to help!

Awesome product!

I made a very basic top quilt out of Climashield 5oz with 0.66 membrane 10 taffeta on one side and 1.0oz HyperD on the other. It's 72" x 43" no zippers, snaps, etc, I made a mini quilt (trapezoid) 32" x 17" and sewed it in for a foot box. Total weight is 17.9oz! I used it last night for the first time, the low was 45°, I slept in a pair of cotton blend thermals and was perfectly toasty on top. Next project will be a similar underquilt because my back was cold in the one I have. The climashield performed very well and I will definitely use it again.

That sounds like an awesome project Russell! We're glad you slept cozy in your new custom made top quilt! We'd love to see photos, here is a link if you'd like to share with us!

Great product, easy to work with. Did not pack as small as I wanted, but it worked for my purposes. Tested it at 36 degrees and slept fairly comfortably.

Thanks for the review Rebecca! We're glad you found it easy to work with. Unfortunately synthetic insulation such as Climashield doesn't pack down as much as natural down. But is more cost effective and environmentally friendly! We'd love to see photos of your project, be sure to tag us on social media!

Works great to ~25°

I used 5oz Climashield for a sleeping quilt and have used it in 25°F and 30°F weather comfortably(I am a warm sleeper). It doesn’t pack down as small as I wanted but I made a fairly large quilt to accommodate my height.

It is easy to sew with. Using tissue paper prevented the insulation from getting caught in the feed. Will buy again if I need extra warmth for spring/fall. I will be making another MYOG quilt geared toward with lighter insulation to save weight and size in the summer.

Thanks for your review and the helpful sewing tip Joseph! We're glad this 5 oz kept you cozy! We would love to see photos of your quilt. Here is a link if you'd like to share
