    MEMBRANE 15 poly taffeta

MEMBRANE 15 is our ultralight 15 denier taffeta polyester. Similar to our MEMBRANE 10 nylon taffeta, MEMBRANE 15 combines breathability, wind/water resistance, and exceptional downproofing with the softest hand feel on the market.

To make MEMBRANE 15, we start with a custom woven, high thread-count polyester base material. In addition to adding durability, this  reduces moisture absorption compared to a nylon base.

Combined with a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating, the result is  significantly less weight gain and improved comfort (i.e. no clammy feeling) when the fabric is subjected to rain or highly humid environments.

All this makes MEMBRANE 15 excel in a variety of applications including quilts, jackets, sleeping bags, garments, pillows, linings, and more.

    3.3 oz Ventek 30 WPB

The result of over a year of development, testing, and pushing limits, Ventek is our custom designed, high-performance WPB fabric line.

Waterproof/Breathable (aka WPB) fabric is exactly what the name implies - both waterproof AND breathable. To achieve this, WPB fabric uses a specially formulated laminate film that is highly resistant to water droplet penetration (i.e. rain) while also allowing moisture vapor (i.e. sweat) to pass through and escape.

3.3 oz Ventek 30 is a 3-layer WPB fabric designed to balance weight and durability while maintaining performance (waterproofness and breathability) that rivals big names like Gore-Tex and eVent.

Great for a wide range of applications such as jackets, over mittens, gaiters, pants, ponchos, bivy shells, and more.

Great Product

I wanted to hold off on reviewing until I had a decent amount of these colors in. This review covers Membrane 15 poly taffeta and 1.6 oz ripstop polyester. The biggest question I have when getting anything custom printed for me is "How black is the black?" - many custom print shops I've worked with don't do a good black color, which makes all other colors off. These guys do a great black, and actually all the colors I've received thus far have been top notch and true to the Color Map (totally get one). The taffeta is smooth and silky, and some light colors are almost transparent. I'm actually not a huge fan of it for my application (outdoor dog apparel) but I would use it on my own gear. The 1.6oz poly ripstop works extremely well for my application, and I end up interlining (to make downproof) before adding insulation and lining. Highly recommend getting a ColorMap for your fabric, but be aware it will be addicting to continue buying a yard or two of fabric.

Amazing!

I am extremely impressed with the new Omnicolor fabric. I bought several colors, including red, blue, green, gold, and silver, in the MEMBRANE 15 poly taffeta. The color saturation is excellent and perfectly even. The colors are bright and vivid. In no way do they look "second quality".

They do seem a little brighter when "full sized" (ie, a full yard or more) vs the Color Map swatches. BTW, it's a good idea to get the Color Map first because the actual fabric colors are actually fairly different than what you would see on your computer monitor. They are similar to website Pantone depictions, but definitely not exact.

Furthermore, there are a LOT of very similar colors, and that actually makes it somewhat hard to pick one. In a lot of cases, it's hard to guess which one of many similar colors will turn out best based off of the small Color Map swatches. Buying a full yard of the colors you are considering would answer that question, but that gets expensive fast.

The fabrics are a little shiny; some people like that, some don't (personally, I do like it). But they aren't any shinier than other similar DIY fabrics. But just note that if you are expecting a perfectly matte appearance, like the Pantone website swatches would indicate.

They are somewhat opaque, with darker colors less transparent. The fabric itself is very soft. They have a totally top-quality look and feel.

Very easy to give this 5 stars. Having over 1,000 colors to pick from, for a very high-quality fabric, for under $10/yard is nothing short of amazing.
