Easy to make, fits nicely.
Thanks for leaving a review Janice! We're glad to hear that the 1.1 oz Silpoly worked well for you backpack cover. Let us know if you have any questions about future projects, we're here to help!
Absolutely beautiful fabric to work with, not super slippery like silnylon I’ve used in the past. Used it to make me and a couple of friends solo tarps 2.85m x 1.75m (112 inches x 69 inches). Bigger than anything I could find to buy, ended up being 350g (12.3oz) including guy lines. Bringing my total shelter weight down to under 24oz
Saving weight and making your own gear is a great feeling! Thanks for leaving us a review. We'd love to see photos of some of the hammocks you made, here is a link if you'd like to share any
The wide width made sewing up a simple light tarp fairly easy with no midline seem. I didn't find the silpoly difficult to sew but did sweat it while sewing the long hems.
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review Alan! The XL Silpoly is perfect for tarps, and it really makes life much easier to not have to worry about that middle tarp seam. Enjoy your new DIY tarp!
In the process of sewing up a winter hammock tarp. Sews like the regular width 1.1 Silpoly. I am also sewing a Membrane Silpoly tarp at the same time, they are two distinct fabrics. Membrane slippery and stretchy. 1.1 Silpoly XL is not as stretchy and not near as slippery, much easier to sew. Last thing, and this just may be me, but the 1.1 XL seems to be heavier than the regular 1.1. This may just be a phycological issue because of its width, who know. Nice material, going to make a very large tarp.
Thanks for leaving that feedback on the comparison of the 1.1 Silpoly XL vs MEMBRANE Silpoly, I'm sure others will find it very helpful! We'd love to see photos of your finished winter hammock tarp! Here is a link if you'd like to share any, https://forms.gle/Pjk8pYvEGKu4JGNL6
