This was exactly what I was hoping it would be... Super lightweight, practically transparent bug screen. Not made out of metal like what would be on a household window screen. This is definitely a fabric. However note that it is so fine that it could probably not be sewn without an edge or backing fabric. The needle and thread would just tear right through it. But I cannot say whether that is completely true because I did not attempt that. Excellent price point and quick shipping.
My hubby likes to sleep on the porch in the summer, so I made a noseeum (mosquito) net for his outdoor bed. He loves it!
The 0.9 oz Noseeum mesh was perfect for making snake skins for our hammock tarps. The mesh was easy to work with and looks to hold up well. I gave one skin to a veteran backpacking friend and he said it looked just as good as a store bought skin.
Better late than never, I bought this material almost two years ago and finally put it to use. Ended up sewing a half cover bug net for my hammock. This was super easy to sew, I was worried given that all my sewing experience has been on tough to sew materials (sleek ripstop, dense webbing) and I was worried it would fray and be really difficult, but it was EXTREMELY easy. Stiff enough to manage, but not too stiff to be unwieldy, but not so soft it slid around everywhere. Even using my rolled hem foot for my sewing machine worked well with this!
Perfect for creating a fish live well in a larger body of water. Tightly knit enough for fish fry but large enough to let water and air flow through.
