    NOTE - This is a full roll of 1.6 oz Silpoly (125 yds). Looking for smaller amounts? Click HERE  for sales by the yard. 

    1.6 oz silicone coated polyester ripstop (aka silpoly). This fabric is coated with a silicone/PU layer on each side and is waterproof/non-breathable.

    1.6 oz  Silpoly offers higher strength, lower bias stretch, and better puncture/abrasion resistance than our lightweight 1.1 oz Silpoly and ultralight Membrane Silpoly. Best used when you prefer a more robust material over the absolute lightest weight. 

    Same silpoly benefits of lower water absorption  and increased UV resistance compared to Silnylon. Great for projects such as tarps, tents, ponchos, gear sacks, pack covers, or any application where a robust waterproof/windproof fabric is needed.

It takes me time to first make something using fabric, then to use it & after that see how it functions. Hence cannot comment. All I can say is that it looks OK.

Silpoly 1.6 Challenge

The Silpoly 1.6.was a bit of a challenge to sew but I figured things out. With a long straight edge and a white Tailers pencil it got easier. Even with a 1936 Singer model 15 Treadle machine!

Perfect for the outdoor project I'm creating. Its holding up from heavy and even little small twigs from trees during the rain storm. Very lightweight but durable.
