1.6 oz silicone coated polyester ripstop (aka silpoly). This fabric is coated with a silicone/PU layer on each side and is waterproof/non-breathable.

1.6 oz Silpoly offers higher strength, lower bias stretch, and better puncture/abrasion resistance than our lightweight 1.1 oz Silpoly and ultralight Membrane Silpoly. Best used when you prefer a more robust material over the absolute lightest weight.

Same silpoly benefits of lower water absorption and increased UV resistance compared to Silnylon. Great for projects such as tarps, tents, ponchos, gear sacks, pack covers, or any application where a robust waterproof/windproof fabric is needed.

Want to quickly compare all our lightweight coated/non-breathable fabrics? Check out the "Fabric Comparison Guides" on our FAQ page.

Great stuff

This is some great fabric, strong, even color, right stitching. I like poly due to it's inherent UV resistivity, but I'm sure the nylon would work just as well!

Thanks Matt, there is so much you can do with the Silpoly! Happy Making!
