  • Climashield APEX reaches new heights in combinations of weight and thermal efficiency. Developed from a culmination of over 25 years of manufacturing experience, this innovative insulation is the lightest and most thermally efficient continuous filament insulation on the market today. Like other high-end synthetics, it also maintains warmth in wet and humid conditions.

Due to it's unique continuous filament construction, Climashield APEX requires little to no quilting. This makes it easier to work with when compared to other synthetic insulations that require quilting panels to avoid shifting/migration. Great for sleeping bags, outer wear, and quilts.

For additional information, please visit the Climashield website  HERE.

    * Sold by the linear ydjust like fabric . For example, entering a qty of "1" gets you a 36"x60" piece.

IMPORTANT  - Due to size and packaging constraints, our  standard max continuous cut for all insulation is 5 yds. If you're ordering more than this and need specific cut lengths for your project, please  put a note on your order  with cut instructions. We're happy to work with you to make things work :).

Product seems good, not happy with packaging

I'm happy with this product. I sleep usually 20 degrees colder than products are rated though my sleeping bags are getting old. I tested it in a RV trailer during the first snow with the windows open. Using it as a top quilt by sandwiching it between 1 oz hyper d, and doubling the insulation up to get 6.6oz total and with basically perfect insulation underneath it, I was comfortable at 27 degrees Fahrenheit with just a hat and underwear on. The way it's made I think it would be lighter for the warmth if you did not double layers as it's denser on the outer edges, but I needed to double to get the weights I wanted.

I was not happy with the packaging. It arrived vacuum sealed in a tiny box for it's size and some of the insulation was caught in the vacuum packaging so that I had to cut the insulation to get it out. I have read that you permanently loose loft by smashing insulation even the first time and I was planning to store it rolled in a large stuff sack never smashed. I would have paid more to have it shipped in a larger box less smashed.

Hi Craig, First, let me apologize for the insulation being caught in the seals on the material. I'll let our team know so we can make sure that doesn't happen in the future. Climashield can be vacuum sealed/stored compressed without loss of loft or insulating properties. Just make sure you let the insulation loft completely before working with it. Not only have we done multiple test confirming this, it's actually how Climashield sends us material.

Synthetic Quilt/Bag

Great down alternative for a lightweight quilt/bag! Seems warm and packs down small.

Hi Ryan, Thanks for the review! Climashield is a great insulation to work with!

First time using this product. Applied as a top quilt for an existing sleeping bag. Have not yet tested in the field. Very light weight and easy to sew. Overall, a good product.

performs as expected

Arrived on schedule in a vacuum sealed package to reduce overall bulk, I ordered three yards and the cut was generous, built a 90" long quilt and I believe I can use the drop to construct a puffy vest or possibly a hooded pullover!
