The MEMBRANE sil line was developed with one goal in mind - create the lightest, most waterproof fabrics on the market.
Same silpoly benefits of lower water absorption (i.e. no sagging) and increased UV resistance, but in a waterproof textile that's 15-30% lighter than traditional lightweight coated nylon/polyester fabrics.
MEMBRANE Silpoly is the ultralight version of our MEMBRANE silpoly line of ultralight coated materials. At a finished weight of just 0.93 oz/yd 2, it is the lightest waterproof polyester textile available. The material features the following:
MEMBRANE Silpoly is best for situations where you want the lightest possible waterproof fabric outside of Cuben Fiber. Lower water resistance than the PU4000 version, but ~15% lighter.
A premium material for all projects requiring an extremely lightweight, waterproof textile. Common applications include tarps, tents, ponchos, gear sacks, pack covers, etc.
*Note: this fabric is the exact same on each side. If seam sealing, we recommend using a 100% Silicone sealant such as Sil-Net.

Recieved my order quickly. Used it to make a footprint for my Durston X-Mid 1, and it came out great.

The end result was great! In general I was hoping the directions would have been easier to follow, but all in all, it worked out well. With my configuration it ended weighing 16 oz with all required cordage and stuff sack.

Every time I order material from them it comes super fast, exactly how I ordered, and is extremely high quality. This membrane silpoly is so lightweight and packable, yet very easy to work with. I cannot believe with a little effort you can get a 12oz, 10’x12’ tarp for $65. I have not tested the waterfroofing yet, but thank you RBTR for making this possible and I will update when it has been used in a rainstorm, I have complete confidence that it will hold up to whatever I put it through

My latest tent is a free standing double wishbone 2 person tent with removable rain fly. The Membrane rain fly only adds a out 8oz to the total 39.75oz total weight. It is stayed waterproof in light rain so far but I can't comment on sustained downpours. This material is easy enough to sew but being slippery makes large sections a bit of a chore to get beautiful rolled seams. Can't wait for RSBTR to get their new DIY gallery up and running. Even with submitting my projects on the Google form I have yet to see them shared.

I decided to use this material to make a rain skirt. It worked out perfectly. Didn't have any issues sewing it, although I did use tissue paper as a backing when I first started sewing the rolled hem at the corners.
