HyperD™ ECO is our custom woven line of 100% post-consumer recycled lightweight diamond grid nylon. Designed for superior performance and feel, HyperD is incredibly strong yet still very soft to the touch.

At 1.6 oz, this fabric fills the void between 1.9 oz and 1.1 oz weights when you're looking for something lighter while retaining maximum strength and durability.

The premium choice fabric for projects such as hammocks, stuff sacks, synthetic quilt/comforter shells, breathable/lightweight garments, or lightweight bags.

Why HyperD ECO? Read below for more details...

Everyone (mostly) knows that climate change is real.

As a result, leading big brands are using more sustainable, ECO friendly materials like recycled nylon and polyester every year - which is great.

But there's a problem - DIYers and small businesses can't buy those materials.  And that's where we come in

As part of our larger initiative to deliver equal-access to recycled materials, we're excited to launch HyperD ECO - the same best-selling HyperD you've known since 2014, now made from 100% post-consumer recycled nylon

The nylon yarn itself is made by recycling used water bottles. So instead of sitting in a landfill for the next 1000 years, we're turning trash into something that can actually be used. Even the fabric itself can be recycled at the end of its lifetime.

All of our ECO materials use an environmentally friendly, PFC-free DWR (Durable Water Repellant) finish that's non-toxic to humans and doesn't persist in the environment.

Lastly, we designed all 100% recycled ECO materials to perform just like their non-recycled equivalents. You shouldn't have to choose between performance and helping the planet. Now you don't have to.

Pretty Colors

This was my first experience with any sort of technical or nylon product. Up until now, I was enjoying my life primarily using cotton fabrics. I have to say from a novice stand point, it’s a little tricky working with this material, because it’s so slippery. It also tends to fray a lot, but that is to be expected. However, with that said, the bags I made came out pretty good. In fact, while I was sewing my projects up, a flood of ideas and possibilities washed over my brain. What I am saying is, a fabric the stirs inspiration is worth more than the price per yard. Which, in this case, wasn’t expensive either! It’s a win-win for me.

Eric, thanks for the great review. 1.6 HyperD Eco is a great fabric for a multitude of uses. We are so happy to hear it inspired you with a flood of ideas! Our whole goal is to inspire and provide makers with fabrics, so to hear that we accomplished that is amazing. We would love to see your project (and any future projects) if you are willing to share with us on Instagram. Thanks again Eric!

A great alternative to 1.6 HyperD

I recently purchased 1.6 HyperD ECO to make a hammock because the color I wanted in 1.6 HyperD had been discontinued. I’ve made many hammocks using 1.6 HyperD and have always been very happy with the material feel, ease of use, and color options. The new colors offered in the HyperD ECO are a nice change, so I opted for Slate Blue which looked to be a suitable color alternative. This turned out to be a great choice as the color is better than I had hoped for and the material quality, feel, and ease of use are identical to 1.6 HyperD. The use of recycled material in this fabric is an added bonus and I will be adding 1.6 HyperD ECO into my hammock rotation as the color need presents itself.

Hey Ryan! We're glad you stumbled upon the 1.6 oz HyperD ECO for your DIY Hammock! Be sure to share photos with us on social media, we'd love to see your creation!
