    X-Pac VX21 is a solid balance of durability and weight with a thicker 210D nylon face for enhanced abrasion resistance compared to lighter variants like VX07.

    VX21 is a laminate fabric comprised of the following layers:

    - C6 DWR 210D Nylon face

    - Black Polyester X-PLY at 22 degrees

    - 0.25 mil PET film

    - 50D Poly Taffeta backing for abrasion resistance

    Highly durable fabric best used for lightweight yet super tough backpacks, bags, rain gear, pouches, packing pods, etc.

    *Note: All X-Pac fabrics are sold in 1/2 yd increments to help reduce cost for smaller projects. Please enter a whole number of half yards in the box up top. For example, if you want 7 yds total, enter "14" in the half-yard box.

Carry-on backpack to fit exactly under seat 18 x14x9

This fabric was perfect for this use-- much more body than the ripstop nylon I used for the first draft. Nothing got wet even though I didn't tape the seams. It's a basic clamshell bag with a couple of storage pockets on the front for stuff I'd need in the airport and on the subway. This fabric sewed well on a Bernina 1008 home machine up to four layers thick. I screwed up in a couple of places but the extra holes don't show until about 6 inches away. Bright blue color made me easy for my husband to spot in crowds. Fully packed the bag is sturdy enough to sit on (I just put some 1/2" purse feet on the bottom). It did catch some scuffing as I leaned against concrete and brick walls. It just gave the bag some character, IMO. My 20-yr-old son wants one now.

Thanks for the review! This is a great pack fabric and we are happy you were able to make a bag that is perfect for travel. The scuffing definitely gives it characters and lets people know you actually use it! That is one of the best parts of MYOG-ing , sharing it with other people.

X-Pac VX21 and VX41 purchase

I ordered VX21 and VX41 fabrics. Both came in great condition. I chose the folded shipping option and the fabric still looks great without creases. I’ll order more fabric in the future assuming prices don’t go crazy.
