A little more difficult than a gathered-end hammock

For those interested I'd like to point out that the entire hammock from cinch buckle to cinch buckle ended up being spot on to 11' with the hammock body from spreader bar to spreader bar taking up 6' 10". I'm 6' and it's more than comfortable both laying on my back and on my side. The fabric is a lot softer and cotton-like than other fabrics I've used such as Hyper D and Robic. The spreader bars and titanium hardware feel high quality. The amsteel is very easy to work with and creating your seamless loops becomes very easy after the first one. I'm not sure what the stuff sack material is, but it's definitely thinner and lighter than the hammock itself. Mine came in a slightly darker but still similar shade to the dark olive I ordered on the hammock fabric, no complaints there. I do wish they'd include some thinner cordage and some cordlocks to complete the stuff sack, but there was more than enough leftover amsteel you could make into a continuous loop on both sides and tie it off with an overhand knot but not quite enough to make a ridgeline. I'll be ordering some zing-it and micro cord locks on my next order for both of those things.

As the title suggests it's a little more difficult to make than a gathered-end hammock, particularly cleanly rolling the sides. I had to rip the seam a few times on my first try but on my second side I did it in one go. While there's some ripples in my seam I don't think I have any structural concerns.

The biggest change I made over the instruction video was with the 1/2" webbing strips on the hardware attachment points; instead of sewing a line into it and then attaching it all on one side I put webbing on both sides of the hammock and added 7 bar stitches that go through the webbing, hammock, and webbing like a sandwich. The video suggested 9 but 7 should do just fine for my use case.

Other than that I did have a little concern about the laser cut having more of an x cut at the foot and head end where the triangles meet in the middle and the shape didn't seem EXACTLY on point. I didn't measure it but I was able to make it work and trimmed off excess with no issues in the end and I have no concerns about it causing rips or other issues.

Once making the hammock I already have been dreaming up ways to add a bug net similar to the Banyan or Ridgerunner but I think I'll save that for the next one. I do plan to add a ridgeline which I'll probably attach to my cinch buckles and I've already used some of the excess webbing provided and some noseeum mesh I had laying around to make a gear loft within one of the triangle ends.

Hi there, thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a detailed review of our Pre-Cut Bridge Hammock Kit. We appreciate your feedback and are glad to hear that the length and fabric were to your liking. We will definitely take your suggestions for including thinner cordage and cordlocks into consideration. We apologize for any difficulty you experienced with the assembly and will make sure to review our instruction video for any improvements that can be made. Thank you again for your support and happy hammocking!

Pre-cut Bridge hammock

This kit was great. I'm not very good at math so having the fabric pre-cut to shape made it a snap. Wasn't sure how I would feel about the fabric, but once I got it together and lay in it I was sold. Amazing kit, with everything you need and then some. Made making a bridge hammock a snap.

Thanks so much Kevin! We're glad you ended up liking the fabric for the Bridge Hammock Kit. We'd love to see photos of your finished project, here is a link to share photos if you'd like. https://forms.gle/9o4wvQP9nz6NxRqp6 Happy hanging!

Great kit!

This was very easy to make and I loved it. I wish there were a few more options for fabric though. But that’s just me wanting to make more gear!

Thanks so much for your review Lindsey! Making your own gear is addicting. Let us know if you have any questions about future projects, we're here to help!

precut bridge

I definitely recommend just getting the precut bridge body. I would like to see the bugnet to go with it be put in a kit and also have the net precut.

Thanks Michael for the review! We're glad that you enjoyed making the pre-cut bridge hammock. We'd love to see photos, be sure to tag us on social media!
