Great kit to get started with DIY.
I have bought multiple, make them, and give them as gifts!
This was my first sewing project and it worked out great. I went with 1.6oz HyperD. It seems like a good compromise between weight and durability and was very easy to sew on compared to Membrane 10D, which I used for my second project. I sewed it using Tera 80 thread and a Schmetz Microtex 70/10 needle. I've ordered the same fabric for a second hammock, but I skipped the kit since I already have some cord and carabiners laying around.
Awesome kit! This was my first attempt at making my own gear and it went really well. The only thing I would change is mentioning somewhere in the directions/fabric information how many stitches per inch is optimal for this type of project! (I used the 1.0 HyperD and love it!)
This is a great product and project. This video instruction was really easy to follow and it was simple and quick to make. I will be recommending this to friends!
I really enjoyed the hammock kit and Kyle's instructional video of how to put it all together. Had a lot of fun getting that assembled for my kids! There were two things I wish could be added: there needs to be a note to buy some straps for the hammock kit - it seems obvious, but I'll admit to missing that detail (I'll chalk it up to the excitement for the project). Also, a video about using the strap buckles would be nice. I made the mistake of mounting one backwards and had the expected failure of the strap - they're definitely designed for use in a specific way.
