I bought the 1.9oz hammock kit to make an 11 foot hammock and also bought a couple extra yards of material to make some stuff sacks and a ridgeline organizer. Was very easy and fairly quick to get it all sewn and ready to hang. Very comfortable and good quality material
The hammock turned out great. The site should remind you to get thread while your ordering :) I made mine 11' and its comfy. I really didn't have enough to make the proper sized stuff sack but it does fit with some fiddling.
Another great purchase from ripstopbytheroll.com, these guys always have what I need be it a complete kit, or just raw supplies. Keep up the amazing job, I am surprised at how fast you could get my order to me all the way out in Hawaii.
I purchased 2 netless hammock kits for a few reasons. First I have two boys who fight over my hammock, second I'm interested in finding a budget friendly light weight hammock to try backpacking with and three I like sewing projects (as long as they aren't too hard because I'm not that talented and my sewing machine is an old singer compact from the 20s or 30s that pretty much does a strait stitch). So far I have completed one of the two hammocks and after watching the youtube video got right down to business with no unexpected issues. It was not difficult, nor did it take a long time and the finished product feels very sturdy and is comfortable to lie in. I would recommend this project and will most likely do another one soon in a super light material.
Ordered 2 kits in 1.9oz ripstop nylon. Each hammock finished at 126" long x 55" wide. I also made a double ended stuff sack from the cutoff for each. The kit components price is impossible to beat, a fantastic bargain. I have a cottage vendor hammock I purchased for over $100 which these diy hammocks are equal quality to. Great deal, great quality, great company! Thanks RSBTR!!
