Fabric and Insulation remnants are unavoidable for us at RBTR. These random pieces usually get created when we hit splices in rolls or miscut something. After all, nobody's perfect.

But in this case, our problem is your profit.

If you love a good deal (and a good surprise), you've come to the right place!

Our Mystery Box is exactly what it sounds like:  approximately 5 yards of Climashield Apex Insulation, completely random, for $40. You don't pick what's inside — that's the whole point. It's the fabric equivalent of a grab bag at your favorite outdoor shop, except everything in it is stuff we actually sell.

Here's why this is such a good deal: you're saving 50% on average.

*A few things to know before you buy ( because we believe in zero surprises)*:

These are totally mystery boxes - the insulation pieces won't be labeled and we won't be able to help you determine each individual piece. These boxes are pulled from first-quality Climashield off-cuts. All pieces are guaranteed full width and are a minimum of 12" long. Most pieces will be closer to 1 yard and we will do our best to limit shorter pieces. If that's a dealbreaker for you, this might not be the box for you (and that is totally ok!).

This box is an excellent way to make backpacking pillows or insulated garments and accessories like: mittens, vests, camp booties, jackets, hats, balaclavas, pot/food cozies and anything else you can think of!

*How to figure out what weight of insulation you have:*

1. Measure the Area: Measure the exact length and width of the un-stretched sample in inches. Multiply these two numbers to get your total square inches.

2. Weigh It: Place the insulation on a digital scale. For better precision on smaller lengths, weigh the sample in grams, as small pieces are often too light for standard scales to read accurately in ounces. To convert to ounces, divide your gram weight by 28.35.

3. Calculate the OSY: Plug your numbers into the standard conversion formula (1,296 represents the total number of square inches in a square yard):

OSY = (Weight in oz × 1,296) / (Length in inches × Width in inches)

Match the resulting ounces/sq. yard with the closest labeled osy of Climashield on our website (2.5, 3.6, 5.0, 7.5, or 10.0 osy).

If you're the type who gets excited by a surprise package, loves a deep discount, and doesn't mind a little unpredictability in exchange for major savings — this is your box.

Due to the discounted nature of these boxes, we do not allow returns in the majority of cases.
