Want to keep you and your food safe from hungry bears when camping? We'll give you a hint - the answer is YES

    Enter the Bear Bag.

If you're overnight camping in bear country, a bear bag allows you to safely store food and other items away from your tent or hammock. That way, when Yogi comes looking for picnic baskets, he won't accidentally eat you instead.

Our Bear Bag DIY kit contains all the items (*except thread) you need to make your own bear bag at home in about an hour. We've even created step-by-step video instructions that show you exactly how to do it!

Here's what you'll get with each kit:

    (1) 1.43 oz Dyneema® Composite Fabric bear bag blank

    (1) 1.43 oz Dyneema® Composite Fabric rock sack blank

    Components (pre-packaged)

    (1) Mini-Biner

(72") 1" Dyneema Composite Fabric Repair Tape

    (12") Mil-Spec Nylon Grosgrain

Instead of buying a finished bear bag, make your own instead. You'll save money, plus we'll be here to guide you every step of the way should you need help.

Beginner project

It was a great beginner project to learn the basics that will carryover to a lot of other projects.

Thanks Mark! We're glad the DIY Bear Bag Kit was able to teach you some new skills that you can use in other MYOG projects!

Thanks for the feedback! We're glad to hear that the Bear Bag Kit is a success.

Just get it!

If you’re looking at this kit just get it! Awesome bag easy to follow instructions for the most part. My only complaint would be that the draw string portion of instruction video for rock bag didn’t show the opening and i wasn’t sure if I did the opening correctly or not. Kind of looks weird the way I did it but still works. I would 100% recommend it if you’re just getting started with sewing like me. Great kit from awesome company.

Thanks for your review and feedback! That is helpful for us to know so we can make the instructions better. Enjoy your new MYOG bear bag!

Great food bag hanging kit

This kit was easy to make and has already served me well on a recent backpacking trip. The material is strong, light, and see-through enough to locate contents easily. Highly recommended!

Success! We love to hear that, we're glad it was easy to make and that you've already been able to test it in the backcountry. Happy Hiking and thanks for leaving no trace!

Easy to follow instructions, perfect size, great project!

I really enjoyed putting this project together. The instructions are clear and easy to follow (so handy that you can pause and reply the videos). It’s big enough to accommodate longer food carries (5-7 days). The only thing I would change is the size of the buckle and webbing at the top. Even an additional 1/4” would make a difference. There is a lot of strain on the buckle when you have a full bag of food in a bear hang. Otherwise, love it and it’s getting a lot of use!

We love to hear that the Bear Bag Kit was easy to put together and that it's getting a lot of use! Thanks for leaving us a review Meghan!
