1.1 oz Silpoly - HEXCAM

$15.50 /yd

Blue Ridge
Pike's Peak

  • Our market-first silicone double coated polyester ripstop (aka silpoly) in  HEXCAM® USA camouflage.

In addition to excellent waterproof/windproof characteristics, Silpoly offers lower water absorption and increased UV resistance compared to Silnylon. Particularly useful in outdoor applications to minimize sag/stretch when wet and color fade over time.

Great for projects such as tarps, tents, ponchos, gear sacks, pack covers, or any application where durable waterproof/windproof fabric is needed.

  • We couldn't be more excited to work with the team at HEXCAM® USA to couple their unique line of camo patterns with our range of high-end fabrics! Read on below to get the HEXCAM® story.

The founders of HEXCAM® USA served and retired from the US Air Force elite TACP. Over their 40+ years of combined service, they've used a LOT of camo patterns.

Upon retirement, HEXCAM® was created out of a lifelong affinity for everything outdoors and keen observation of patterns that... wait for it... actually work in nature. The end goal was to create a highly functional pattern with utility in many different applications and environments.

HEXCAM® patterns utilize nature's own honeycomb pattern, coupled with unique application of layers and shadows to create a 3D effect that provides the user superior camouflage both close-up and at long range. Very similar patterns are found on a variety of animals in nature, most prominently in reptiles and lizards.

Hexcam sylpoly

Ive used plain sylpoly with good success for tarps and tent ground sheets- easy to sew, light weight. Sylpoly is too slippery for tent floors- RBTR and Thermarest do not have solutions for this. The hexcam ('wasteland' and '5-echo") 1.1 sylpoly have a matt finish, both sides, and a soft hand feel. It has a similar sound to other thin nylons when I run my fingernails across it. It is quieter after it has been in the freezer overnight. Enough light penetrates the fabric that you could use it as a tarp. I like reptiles, and these colour patterns are attractive. The browns and yellows in the stupidly-named "wasteland" would be fine camoflage in the yellow-orange-browns in the fall in the northern alpine and tundra landscapes I spend time in. The medium greens of the "5 echo" pattern are too bright a green (think Irish) for the light green and greys of the summer in these habitats. I'd use the former for a tarp, tarp tent top, light duty non-breathable rain wear, or pack cover, especially if it was on sale. Keep up the good work on these new colour patterns and the extra wide fabrics!

Great Pattern

I haven't started my project yet but this pattern is going to be great for my poncho/shelter I plan on using it for.

Hi Geoff Thanks for the review! The HexCAM is a great pattern!
