Straight to the point - 0.56 oz MEMBRANE 7 is the lightest ripstop nylon on the market.

Built from ultra fine 7 denier yarn with an incredibly tight weave, it is breathable and calendered/downproof with an unmatched, buttery soft feel against your skin.

At 0.56 oz/yd 2, it's 15% lighter than our ultralight  MEMBRANE 10 taffeta. Depending on what you're making, that could mean serious weight savings. For larger items such as quilts and blankets, as much as a full ounce or more.

If you're worried about durability, we added a ripstop grid to maximize abrasion resistance and tear strength over the long haul.

And for the first time ever, we've even used an ECO friendly, PFC and PFAS free DWR (Durable Water Repellant). This provides exceptional water resistance without the negative environmental impact of traditional DWR treatments.

Is MEMBRANE 7 right for you?

    • Lightest ripstop nylon on the market at 0.56 oz/yd 2
    • Wind resistant + DOWNPROOF
    • Highly water resistant with PFC and PFAS free DWR
    • Buttery soft hand feel

If you're serious about shaving grams with high-end fabric, M7 ripstop is the choice.

MEMBRANE 7 was specifically developed for high-end, ultralight outdoor gear such as quilts, but also finds application in a variety of areas, including garments, kites, and more.

Sold by the Yard. For example, enter a quantity of "3" to receive three linear yards of material, measuring three yards (108") in length by the listed width of the material (check specs tab).

Light, strong and watter repellent -> excellent choice!

The tittle says it all. It's the best quality price ratio for an outdoor ultralight fabric.

Thank you for your review! We're thrilled to hear that our 0.56 oz MEMBRANE 7 Ripstop Nylon has met your expectations. Happy adventuring with our ultralight fabric!

Super lite waterproof breathable material use for the outer cover on an underquilt in winter. Works down to zero with no condensation. Gives the underquilt a higher rating and excellent wind protection with minimal weight.

Beautiful and soft 7D Ripstop Nylon

I love the ripstop grid (as opposed to smooth taffeta nylon) and this Moroccan blue colour. It may not be much wind-stopper and somewhat fragile. I have also purchased the 10D version. Colour is identical, grid slightly different. More resistant to wind (tried difference blowing through with mouth). Used 7D nylon for UL quilt lining. Gorgeous and so smooth on the skin! Used it also as down jacket outer. To be worn preferably under a wind or rain jacket.

Thanks for leaving us a review Luis! It sounds like you've found lots of great things to make with both versions. We'd love to see photos of your projects, be sure to tag us on social media!

Confusingly Magical Fabric

Made an ultralight down quilt as my first MYOG/learn to sew project with membrane7. When it first arrived it was terrifying bc it feels and looks like slick tissue paper… but wow am I blown away at the durability. I’ve painted it with acid dye, steam set, washed, and wrung out (all twice). Tore at it with my teeth and was only able to get a small hole after a lot of force on a canine (don’t ask), and also hit it with hurricane force winds as I used the vacuum method to fill it with down. Will be using the extra for some down booties and maybe an anorak

Thanks for your review, Bethany! You really put this fabric through the wringer. We'd love to see your creation, here is a link if you'd like to share! https://forms.gle/P4EHrfiWJ5kajdrE8

Under quilt protector

Came out great and I am amazed at how light and compact it becomes but at the same time it guards my investment in my quilt on my hammock and gives me a little more margin of protection in warmth.

Thanks for leaving a review Stephen! We're happy to hear that your UQ protector came out well with the 0.56 oz MEMBRANE 7! Happy hammocking :)
