  • Add ultralight, modular storage to any pack with the Dyneema® Hip Belt Pouch Kit.

Made from Dyneema® Composite Fabric (formerly Cuben Fiber), these zippered, water-resistant pouches can be made in under an hour and offer the lightest, toughest storage solution possible for any backpack with a hip belt.

Quickly add/remove the HBP to your existing pack by threading through the elastic loops on the backside of the pouch (see pic to left).

Kit comes with all the pre-packaged components you'll need to make one finished Hip Belt Pouch with no wasted materials. We've even laser cut the fabric to size, so you can open the box and start sewing right away.

    Kit includes:

    Material (*choose fabric/color above)
2.92 oz Dyneema® Composite Fabric Hybrid - 9" x 14" laser cut fabric blank, ready to sew

    Components (*prepackaged)
(12") #3 Uretek YKK coil zipper
    (2) #3 reverse-mount YKK sliders
    (12") 3/4" flat elastic
(12") 1.5 mm mini-drawcord - black or (2) Tiny Cord Pull -  Note we are in the process of changing from the drawcord to finished cord pulls.

Note that current product pic depicts Gray color 2.92 oz DCF. Actual Gray color is most similar to main image with zipper in front.

Kit makes a finished Dyneema® Hip Belt Pouch with the following approximate dimensions:

    -> 6" width x 5" height x 2" depth

If you've never built a zippered pouch before, or if you just need a refresher, watch this video first. Many thanks to PapaSmurf at Dream Hammock for putting this DIY video together!

IMPORTANT - The Hip Belt Pouch Kit uses water resistant Uretek zipper instead of standard coil. As such, the teeth should be FACE DOWN when attaching coil to fabric (video uses standard coil and calls for teeth to be face up). This will ensure the water-resistant, coated side of the Uretek zipper ends up on the outside of your Hip Belt Pouch.

Pouch Kit

Nice kit, unlike other kits, this one is a little more challenging because layout and marking is needed. The finished product is a very nice and very light bag so makes it worth the extra effort. We substituted 1” poly webbing instead of using the provided elastic.

tough zipper

The zipper is hard to operate. I enjoyed the project. Would Dyneema tape help to water proof? I used seam sealer but have not tested in rain yer.

Hi David, The #3 Uretek will loosen over time, and become easier to operate. The Dyneema repair tape is a great way to waterproof the material. Thanks for the review!

hip belt pocket kits

These hip pockets rock! very stout, easy assembly and I always seam seal for bulletproofness.

Great starter project!

This was a great starter project for me! The quality of the materials was phenomenal, and the final product was great! A real confidence booster for anyone who might be interested in going into DIY-ing. My only suggestion/request/recommendation would be to record a video specific to using the zippers included with this project. Having to refer back to Papa Smurf’s video and make adjustments wasn’t a deal-breaker (and it helped me learn by doing), but it could be streamlined.
