Customer Project: Kyak Spray Deck

• Greenland kayakers use a spray deck, AKA "Akuilisaq" to provide a waterproof seal between the cockpit opening and the kayaker's body to prevent the craft from being swamped. Since no commercial Akuilisaq can fit onto my homebuilt Greenland kayak, I have to tailor one based on the cockpit and my chest size. 
• I made it using the instructions from the book "Building the Greenland Kayak" by Christopher Cunningham. It uses contemporary techniques and materials for this traditional design normally used by the indigenous Inuit during the summer season.

• Required Materials:

  I used 420D ROBIC® Ripstop Nylon - Dark Olive for this project. Additionally, some 1" wide nylon webbings, plastic buckles, hoops, drawcords.
