There are no emergency carry slings available on the market for a smaller dog. My Schipperke weighs about 12 pounds, so a bit too heavy for me to carry for very long. I also needed something for climbing rebar ladders while hiking with him, so that my hands were free for climbing.  The long straps are crossed around my back if I am carrying him in front. If I carry him in back, I do not cross the long straps, but will put each strap coming down the front of my shoulder under my backpack's stern strap, so that it won't slide off my shoulders.Â
