I recently bought a brother sewing machine with intent to make my own gear. I started a small project using dyneema so I can get use to handling the material and get the basics of how to operate my new sewing machine. To my surprise, the dyneema was a breeze to work with and am excited to start on other projects I have planned!
I'm going to share with y'all a simple wallet I made using the .8 ounce DCF material, Gutermann Mara 50 thread, and a small strip of omni tape to keep my money nice and snug.
I started by outlining my license and credit cards to give me an idea on how big the pockets needed to be (I made sure I went a little bit outside the marked line giving enough slide space for the cards). I then started to fold all my edges, creating the outer dimensions of my wallet. Since the dyneema material is somewhat slick, and knowing my wallet was going to weight practically nothing, I wanted to make sure my money stayed nice and secure. So I added a small piece of omni Velcro tape to the inside money pocket. After laying down my last stitch I noticed that I could see through the back of my wallet, revealing all my rough stitch lines from the front. I wasent happy with the way that looked so I decided to give my wallet a little more character. I took some dyneema tape and spelt out BROKE on the inside money pocket. It hides the stitches very well and also acts as a personal bank teller, making sure I know how broke I am constantly...
This was a super fun and a somewhat easy project. I hope y'all enjoy! Now all's I need is a little money to put in it...
