I bought 2 yards of APEX 10 for a shoulder season (early spring and late fall) quilt. It was a little thick to work with on the sewing machine, but with planning and careful, slow sewing there were no problems. The product lofts to about 6 cm, and without the need for sewn through seams or baffles, I am optimistic that the finished quilt will be plenty warm for colder nights in shoulder season. It doesn't squish as small as high quality down might, but it was much less expensive, won't be as finicky to wash, and no birds were plucked in the making of this insulation.
Thanks for the review David! Those are all the reasons we love using the APEX insulation- more affordable, eco friendly, and easy to work with! We're glad you love it as well. We'd love to see photos of your finished quilt, be sure to tag us on social media!
Bought 20 yards. Don't understand why it had to be cut at 5 yard increments. Website claimed shipping issues, but entire order came in one box anyway. Seems as if I'll need to do some unnecessary splicing since they will only cut on the yard.
Hey Jeff, thanks for the review and we apologize for the inconvenience. Our standard max continuous cut for all insulation is 5 yards but we are happy to work with you in the future to get the correct cuts. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
This insulation is fantastic. Was shipped vacuum sealed and well protected. Even the 1.9oz is extremely warm. The 10oz is like a portable oven. Would buy again.
All materials were delivered on time and were cut to measurement.
Hi Wayne, I'm thrilled your order went well. Thanks for the review!
The kit is awesome! It's so easy to make if you have basic measuring and sewing skills. The material is fantastic and so supple. I love it!
I probably could have gone with a lighter weight apex so I'll be buying another to make a lighter one too! :)
