I initially purchased 1.0 oz Hyper D to sew a hammock, but 1.0 oz Hyper D does not breathe at all...think of it as a hammock made out of Saran Wrap. As a second try I purchased 1.8oz Airwave and night and day difference. Airwave is VERY breathable and actually feels more like cotton than nylon. It is about twice as bulky for the same size hammock compared to the 1.0 oz Hyper D, but the absence of the "Zip Lock bag" feeling made the 1.8oz Airwave more than worth the extra bulk.
I made a lighter pocketless version of my favorite heavier weight nylon TNF shorts. This fabric sew beautifully, not slippery or fragile, be sure to heat treat the fabric ends, they do fray easily- a quick “lighter sweep” will do.
1.8 oz AIRWAVE Hybrid Ripstop Nylon
I made a bridge hammock from a pre cut kit with this material. I loved the feel so much I purchased some to double layer my ENO and Yukon hammocks to give them a softer feel and a pocket for pads.
Just what I've been looking for! I love the feel and workability of this fabric. Quality stuff. Probably my #1 favourite for gear bags and sacks.
