If you've never built a zippered pouch before, or if you just need a refresher, watch this video first. Many thanks to Devin at Backcountry Exposure for this fantastic instructional video!
IMPORTANT - Please pay special attention to orientation of the Uretek coil zipper. A common mistake when constructing the ZPP is to flip the zipper the wrong way out.
The video above details the correct orientation with teeth FACE DOWN when attaching coil to fabric. This will ensure the water-resistant, coated side of the Uretek zipper ends up on the outside of your ZPP.

I ordered this so I could create a prototype and this gave me a chance to sew the fabric and zipper. It really helped me make choices for future purchases!

I like the kits. This was the easiest way to get samples of hexcam without having to print 1 yard of each pattern I wanted. Gave me a chance to check it out in person. Only downside to the kit for me is the zipper. I HATE the waterproof zippers. I changed mine out for a #5 zipper tape zipper and added a second pull to it. Makes the bag function so much better. The bags are smaller so getting a good grip with the sealed #3 zipper is a pain.
This finished product is amazing! The quality of the materials is excellent. I’ve sewn for years, but never sewn a zipper, so written instructions or more detailed video instructions would have been really helpful and would have earned a 5. I watched the videos several times, but still had to rip out the zipper and start over bc I missed that they put the zipper UNDER the fabric for stitching, and I couldn’t tell which side of the zipper foot the needle should be on for each step.
Thanks for the review Karen! We appreciate your feedback and hope to update the instructional videos soon. Let us know how we can help you with any future projects. Enjoy!
