I’ve only been sewing for a few weeks, and I wanted a kit with zippers. This was my first zipper build, and it turned out great. Easy to follow video. After installing the zippers, the top and bottom side panels were no longer the same size, so I simply trimmed them and sent it. It is water resistant when you are done. It will need to be seam sealed for even better results. The design is easy enough that I have since cut out one and made it for me. I had given the kit to my mom. I added a stretch pocket to the front of mine, using the same technique as shown for the rear pocket. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the kit to anyone else who is either starting out, or doesn’t feel like doing all the measuring and cutting.
Thank you for such a great and detailed review! We love to see when people hack our DIY Kits, because that is what making your own gear is all about! We're happy to know the kit was easy to put together and it turned out great! Happy Making!
The kits were great, but the elastic was missing from both.
Oh no! Can you email our customer service team at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can make this right for you? We are so sorry about that!
Enjoyed putting together this introductory project. The video instructions are well done and easy to follow. It would be nice to have written instructions to go along with the kit to avoid stopping and starting the video so often. I'll also note that I didn't receive the long piece of webbing for the hip strap with this kit. Other kits have noted bits missing as well. It wasn't a deal breaker, but RSBTR may want to focus a little bit more on quality control when assembling these kits.
Thank you for your review and feedback! I am so sorry to hear that there was webbing missing from your kit. I will most definitely relay this to our products and fulfillment team. In the future, you are more than welcome to reach out to us at email@example.com and we will make it right for you!
I got the UL fanny pack kit to try out the fabric and to practice making more complex projects. The kit was easy to assemble, and I really like the X-pac material and topographic print. I put the bag to good use for holding my wallet and a few sundries while riding my motorcycle off-road in Death Valley this weekend. It worked perfectly, and I hardly knew it was there.
Thanks for leaving a review Trevor! We're glad the UL Fanny Pack kit was perfect for building your MYOG skillset, enjoy!
First, I love the topo fabric! The how-to video made the project easy and I enjoyed making it! DIY is more rewarding than buying! (I think next time I’ll add a pocket on the inside to help organize a little bit).
Thanks for the review and awesome picture Karen! We couldn't agree more with you about rewarding DIYing can feel! Enjoy your new fanny pack!
