APEX Underquilt Kit - Full Length

Second underquilt kit quality just as good as the first!

Bought the quilt a couple months ago, sewed it up and used it the other day for the first time. Ripstop by the roll makes exile the products. I’ve been using a hammock for a few years now and this is the first time I tried my hand at sewing, made a couple of practice items like a stuff sack, welders hats. I figured I was as ready as I’m going to get so I cleared out the living room and went to work. I followed the instructions and a few hours later I had an underquilt ! I had enough extra to make a stuff sack.

I had never sewn outdoors equipment before, but I do know my way around a Singer. The instructions were clear and the materials were top notch. The quilt I made from 3.5 Climashield and 1.1 ripstop was plenty to keep my bum toasty on a recent trip with night time temps in the high 30s to low 40s. There was enough material left over to make a hood, booties, and few stuff sacks. The project gave me a ton of confidence in my sewing and I am totally hooked! I will be making my own gear from now on.

Way cool project! My first under quilt and I love it. Pretty straight forward instructions, took me half a Saturday.

This is a great kit that goes together easily, even will little sewing experience and knowledge. It took longer to figure out how to thread the machine than put this under quilt together and it turned out great. Kept me plenty warm on a late October BWCA trip with temps in the low 20's. Will definitely look to try other kits you have in the future.
