  • The 2nd generation of our silicone double coated 1.1 oz polyester ripstop (silpoly) in A-TACS® iX camo. This fabric is coated with a silicone/PU layer on each side and is waterproof/non-breathable.

In addition to excellent waterproof/windproof characteristics, Silpoly offers lower water absorption and increased UV resistance compared to Silnylon. Particularly useful in outdoor applications to minimize sag/stretch when wet and color fade over time.

Great for projects such as tarps, tents, ponchos, gear sacks, pack covers, or any application where durable waterproof/windproof fabric is needed.

Mr Capewell
Colour difference between MTN and Silpoly

I’ve been making a few lightweight shelters for a client. Originally, I got some Dark Olive MTN which worked very well and my client was sold on the colour and function of the material. As luck would have it, when I wanted to buy more it was out of stock. Easy decision, switch to the Silpoly. If only the 2 materials were colour matched (Im sure this will spark the answer why in the reply). Anyway, tip for new players, colours across the materials are NOT the same so it would pay to get a sample pack first.

Long story short. The MTN for a Tarp is great (not great to sew as its a slippery mother) and the Silpoly is a very good alternative. If was up to me to buy again I’d wait for the MTN to be in stock.

HI Mr Capewell. We try to get colors as close as we can, but differences in materials, finishes, and coatings do make it difficult. As you mentioned, samples are always suggested. Thanks for the review
