ECOPAK™ from Challenge Sailcloth is the world's first 100% recycled laminat pack fabric - designed from the ground up to meet or exceed the technical properties of traditional laminated nylon while also being good for the environment.

The ECOPAK line starts with a 100% recycled REPREVE polyester face, then adds a proprietary 100% recycled film to make everything waterproof. An environmentally friendly, PFC-free C0 DWR also provides water resistance to the face fabric.

There are a lot of reasons to choose ECOPAK, but here's a short list of the most important ones:

      • 100% recycled construction - everything from the face, to the film, backing, and cross-ply reinforcement
      • Solvent and VOC-free adhesive - unlike many laminates, ECOPAK uses an adhesive glue designed without these harmful chemicals and compounds
      • PFC-free DWR - an environmentally friendly Durable Water Repellant that's non-toxic to humans and doesn't persist in the environment over time

All of this recycled ingenuity means that the ECOPAK line uses over 20 plastic bottles and reduces CO2 emissions by over 1 lb with each linear yard. After you're done with it, even the fabric itself can be recycled.

In short, ECOPAK is easily the most environmentally friendly pack fabric in the world. The choice is yours.

EPX200 is a laminate fabric comprised of the following layers:

    - 200D 100% Recycled Polyester Face

    - 45° Blue CrossPly

    - 70D ripstop backing

Sold by the Half Yard. For example, enter a quantity of "4" to receive two linear yards of material, measuring two yards (72") in length by the listed width of the material (check specs tab).

Great Pack Fabric

I've made a few fanny packs and a ~20L commuter backpack with the EPX200. It's a nice stiff, durable fabric that was surprisingly easy to sew with my domestic machine (Jamone 2212). It does hold a crease, so keep that in mind if shipping folded.

Hey Christopher! We agree this is a great fabric for packs. Great tip about it holding a crease, we do offer shipping on a roll if creases will affect your project. Thanks for the review.

exp200 black

I am using this to make longer backpack straps for an arc haul. I have used VX21 in the past, but it was out of stock. This material is very comparable to the VX21 in how it handles. Nice to have an eco -friendly option too.

Thanks for your review Jim! We're sorry the VX21 was out of stock, but glad you were able to experiment with a new fabric! We'd love to see pictures of your modified Arc Haul! Here is a link if you'd like to share any photos https://forms.gle/P4EHrfiWJ5kajdrE8

Nice fabric, easy to work with. Not as stiff as X-pac. Used Gutterman Tara 40. with a 100/16 needle to get through multiple layers
