Nylon | Definition

nī-lon

 

Definition: 

Nylon is a designation of a synthetic fiber commonly used in textiles. You will most commonly hear us refer to nylon as the base fiber used in some of our fabrics. If a fabric is not made of nylon then it is likely to be made of polyester. Although these things are not inherently opposites, they are the two most common synthetic fiber bases for a textile. 

Nylon may also referred to Nylon 6.6. 

The attributes of a nylon fiber are:

  • Stronger than polyester 
  • Hydrophilic
