I wanted a lightweight top quilt with a sealed footbox. I probably could have made this with smaller baffles and been fine in most Tennessee weather. It would have saved a tiny bit of weight but would have stuffed smaller. This "matches" my warm weather Blaze Orange 1.0oz MONOLITE hammock and my Moroccan blue 1.0 HyperD hammock with integrated zipped bugnet.
For the layout, I followed the plans outlined in the Ultralight Backpacking TQ by Lydia. Found in the projects sections on this site and backpackinglight.com. VERY HELPFUL!
I should have saved a bit more Down for the "pillow" I made for the foot box because it is the thinnest part. Though I have not had any cold spots the few times I have been able to use it in the cold.
Required Materials:
I used 0.66 oz MEMBRANE 10 Taffeta Nylon (Blaze Orange and Moroccan Blue, 3yds each), 50 ft of 0.67 oz Noseeum baffle material - 3.5" (should have bought 100ft), and 1lb of Down (from Amazon...sorry). The 50ft of mesh was not quite enough but I had some 0.5 Noseeum from a bugnet I made previously...it was more difficulty to work compared to the 0.67.
