Vintage Control Line Combat Model, Covering. Having had some wrong type of lightweight (35g/m2) ripstop nylon sent to me by my usual www.ebay.co.uk supplier. This was I now know as 'Calendered', as it's Shinny, and not as breathable as I now know as 'Uncalendered'. I decided to do a Google search. And your company came up. Hence I have ordered three batches of fabric, for myself, fellow South Bristol Model Aircraft Club Members, Clients else where in the UK, and in Belgium.
These models are are basically a flying Wing, for simplicity, and quick manufacture. They comprise a built up air-frame structure of balsa wood, spruce spars and the odd plywood doubler. Covering them in ripstop nylon imparts a lot of strength to the wing. The material is adhered to the Centre Rib with neat dope, it is then wetted with a spray of warm water to pre-shrink the nylon, which is shrunk taut with diluted Cellulose Dope, a total of 8 coats of varying strengths are applied with a 2" Flattie Lacquer paint brush.. They are powered by 3.2cc (0.19ci) Diesel engines, and can reach speeds of 80 + mph.
