Perfect backstay material for packs of

Not too many places that had a foam and mesh piece that I could use for my 31 yo terraplane pack. RSBTR had a perfect size foam and mesh piece. It was cheaper and thicker (which I wanted). The 1/4" size slipped in with a little help and now I can continue using my old pack for hiking. Thanks RSBTR!

Thanks David! We love the idea of repairing old gear to give it new life. That's one of the greatest parts of MYOGing. We appreciate your business and hope your pack has many more years of life in it. Let us know if we can be of any help in the future.

The truth

In a vacuum the 1/4" is great, more cushion and a breathable material. But then you work with it. 1/4" mesh is never being stitched alone. When your making shoulder straps you sew through mesh, foam, webbing, and nylon. My sewing machine cries when I do this. The same situation happens when I use it for back pads or hip belts. The material is just too thick. I say stick to the 1/8" mesh and if they ever make a 1/16" mesh then I'll buy that.

Thanks Danny for the review and the tips about the difficulties of sewing Spacer Mesh. We appreciate your business and the suggestions, let us know if you need anything in the future.

This stuff is great!

I used this for the shoulder straps on a trail running backpack. The material is light, strong and easy to work with. Consider pairing it with some 1 inch or 1.5 inch grosgrain to "bind" the edges for a clean look.

Thanks for leaving a review and a tip for binding edges! We hope you enjoy your new DIY trail running pack!

Spacer mesh

Bought both the thick and thinner options. Used the 1/4inch for shoulder straps and hipbelt. The thinner one was used to make a pocket inside a chest pouch and also used as padding for the back panel. Easy to work with.

We're glad to hear both sizes were easy to work with for your DIY projects! Happy Making!
