This is the waterproof version of our custom developed HyperD line of lightweight diamond grid nylon. This fabric is coated with a silicone/PU layer on one side, then a multi-pass PU coating on the other to create a highly waterproof/non-breathable fabric.

At a 1.6 oz base weight, HyperD® PU4000 offers increased durability, lower stretch, and much higher waterproofness than our 1.1 oz Silnylon.

Great for projects such as tent/shelter floors, ground sheets, tarps, ponchos, gear sacks, pack covers, or any application where midweight, highly waterproof/windproof fabric is needed.

*Note - shiny side is PU4000 and dull is sil/PU. If seam sealing this fabric, you will need a sealant intended for PU coated materials (e.g. Seam Grip).

A durable, watertight fabric

I am using this fabric to make the bathtub floor of a tent. I haven't field tested it yet, but I was able to fill a square of this up with water and it was definitely watertight. I think you might even be able to use this fabric to make a water carrier or canteen. I am very pleased.

High quality and very light!

I used this material to make a ground sheet for my tent. It is extremely thin and lightweight, and very tough. I was able to just cut the outline I needed, and didn't experience any fraying of the edges. I've used the ground sheet for 5 days of camping so far, on gravel, dirt, and wooden tent platforms. No punctures or tears in the material yet. Would definitely buy again!

HyperD A PU4000

I wasn't sure what this fabric would feel like and now that I got it I really like it but I'm not sure what I want to use it for. It's thicker than I thought but not in a bad way and it's totally waterproof. I'm just not sure yet.
