I used this material (1.2 oz Dyneema® Composite Fabric Waterproof Breathable CTB1B3-1.0/H2 - White) to make rain chaps to use with a Zpacks poncho and to make rain mitts. I've only used the chaps a few times and not in heavy rain but they have kept me as dry as chaps made with regular dyneema and with less condensation. I have high expectations for the rain mitts also. The material is very lightweight and a sometimes have to use a paper backing when sewing to give the sewing machine something to grip onto. The material also seems to be pretty durable. I've also had positive experience with the other materials, supplies, accessories, kits, and service from Ripstop. The youtube videos have also been very helpful.
Thanks for your review Dave! Your projects sound really rad! We would love to see photos of your rain mitts and chaps made with this 1.2 oz Dyneema® Composite Fabric! We're glad you also found our YouTube videos! We are working on adding new tutorials weekly. :)
This was a good sales price. Plan to sew a special custom poncho and a tent with waterproof Dyneema floor and vestibule. Will post photos if successful.
Recommend Ripstop-By-The-Roll for all outdoor fabric needs.
Thanks so much Fred! We're glad you were able to get this Dyneema during our only sale of the year. We'd LOVE to see photos of our finished project, be sure to tag us on social media or email firstname.lastname@example.org
I've made three jackets and three pairs of pants of this fabric and so far I love it. Definitely wouldn't recommend unless you have a decent amount of experience making gear because it's so expensive and stitch holes are more permanent than in woven fabrics, but I think it's fantastic that a top-of-the-line WP/B fabric is available to MYOGers
