0.74 oz MTN 7D Ripstop Nylon

The Mountain Series is a hand selected collection of the highest performance fabrics/materials on earth - each one optimized for applications ranging from tarp/shelters, to quilts, hammocks, packs, and other high-end outdoor gear.

At 0.74 oz, MTN7 is the lightest fabric in our MTN series line and one of the only 7 Denier fabrics on the market today.

In exchange for a modest weight increase compared to other ultralight fabrics (e.g. Membrane 10), this fabric uses a specially formulated, microporous PU coating to achieve highwater/wind resistance while also maintaining good breathability (see specs tab). It's also calendared and fully downproof for use with natural goose and duck down insulation.

Durability is always a question with ultralight fabrics. That's why we've woven MTN7 from a proprietary, high-end nylon 6 yarn to maximize abrasion resistance and durability over time.

Of all the ultralight fabrics we carry, you will instantly find MTN7 to be one of the most durable for it's weight.

Typical uses include quilt shells, jackets, blankets, rain mittens, beanies, or any application requiring a durable ultralight fabric with an excellent combination of wind/water resistance and moderate breathability.

*NOTE - Because of reduced air permeability, we do not recommend using MTN7 for both the inner AND outer layers of any fully enclosed application (e.g. quilts). For best results, use together with a fully breathable layer of fabric (e.g. MEMBRANE 10).
