Update 7/1/2021 - We've transitioned this product to a new manufacturing process with the specific goal of increasing both the quality and consistency of the goods. The waterproof rating has also been raised to ~3000 mm HH. All fabric shipped after this date will meet the new standard. Thanks for your patience!

Wider and more waterproof, 1.1 oz Silpoly XL is the big brother to our best-selling 1.1 oz Silpoly material. Put simply, it's over a foot wider with one of the best waterproof ratings on the market for lightweight coated fabrics.

Designed from the ground up by us, the custom woven XL width and enhanced waterproof coating combine to offer best-in-class coverage and protection from the elements.

In addition to mega coverage and its waterproof/windproof characteristics, Silpoly XL offers lower water absorption and increased UV resistance compared to Silnylon - particularly useful in outdoor applications to minimize sag/stretch when wet and color fade over time.

Great for projects such as tarps, tents, ponchos, gear sacks, pack covers, or any application where lightweight waterproof/windproof fabric is needed.

    Please note the following:

1.This fabric has matte and shiny sides due to our cire finishing process (see pic). You can place either side towards the elements, but remember to double-check that you're pairing similar sides in projects with multiple panels (e.g. tarps, tents, etc). Should you choose, you can seam seal either side of the fabric with 100% silicone sealant such as Sil-Net.

    2. Due to roll width slitting limitations, the selvedge has NOT been removed for these goods.

Silpoly XL

Absolutely beautiful fabric to work with, not super slippery like silnylon I’ve used in the past. Used it to make me and a couple of friends solo tarps 2.85m x 1.75m (112 inches x 69 inches). Bigger than anything I could find to buy, ended up being 350g (12.3oz) including guy lines. Bringing my total shelter weight down to under 24oz

Saving weight and making your own gear is a great feeling! Thanks for leaving us a review. We'd love to see photos of some of the hammocks you made, here is a link if you'd like to share any

Excellent Tarp Material

The wide width made sewing up a simple light tarp fairly easy with no midline seem. I didn't find the silpoly difficult to sew but did sweat it while sewing the long hems.

Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review Alan! The XL Silpoly is perfect for tarps, and it really makes life much easier to not have to worry about that middle tarp seam. Enjoy your new DIY tarp!

It's a Silpoly

In the process of sewing up a winter hammock tarp. Sews like the regular width 1.1 Silpoly. I am also sewing a Membrane Silpoly tarp at the same time, they are two distinct fabrics. Membrane slippery and stretchy. 1.1 Silpoly XL is not as stretchy and not near as slippery, much easier to sew. Last thing, and this just may be me, but the 1.1 XL seems to be heavier than the regular 1.1. This may just be a phycological issue because of its width, who know. Nice material, going to make a very large tarp.

Thanks for leaving that feedback on the comparison of the 1.1 Silpoly XL vs MEMBRANE Silpoly, I'm sure others will find it very helpful! We'd love to see photos of your finished winter hammock tarp! Here is a link if you'd like to share any, https://forms.gle/Pjk8pYvEGKu4JGNL6
