Sil/PU (silicone/polyurethane) double coated 1.1 oz ripstop nylon (silnylon). This fabric is coated with a sil/PU layer on each side and is non-breathable. Lightweight and durable with some of the best waterproof/windproof performance on the market.

The silicone coating of this silnylon fabric makes it extremely strong for its weight (the silicone adds to the fabric's tear strength). Our silnylon is highly waterproof, but not breathable. Each side of the silnylon fabric can be exposed to the weather since it's coated on both sides and between the fibers.

Another bonus of silnylon is that its ripstop weave pattern means any small tears in your fabric will not expand or fray. This is done via the small reinforcement grids that are woven into silnylon fabric to prevent rips and runs.

This silnylon is a great fit for projects such as tarps, tents, ponchos, gear sacks, pack covers, or any application where waterproof/windproof fabric is needed.

NOTE - Colors with a reduced price of $4.75 /yd are being phased out of inventory. Once sold out, they will not be restocked.

Want to quickly compare all our lightweight coated/non-breathable fabrics? Check out the "Fabric Comparison Guides" on our FAQ page.

Works great!

I used my Ripstop to make a cape that covered my neck, arms, and backpack. The material provided excellent water protection for myself and my pack; an added bonus was the sun block once the rain stopped!

Thanks so much Karen! Your DIY rain cape sounds awesome and super functional. We'd love to see photos of your project. Here is a link if you'd like to share any with us. https://forms.gle/5P8CGYWBsp2rnLbZ6

Good product but didn’t follow RBTR process.

Your email that acknowledges the order suggested replying to it to cancel or get assistance with the order. I realised that I wanted to order some additional items but didn’t want to pay more freight as it is very expensive to New Zealand, so answered the email to this effect. I didn’t get an answer and the order was processed and delivered. I am happy with the quality of the items and the promptness of the delivery. I ordered the additional items from a local supplier.

Hey Bruce, I am really sorry to hear that you didn't get a response from our team. We totally understand your frustration as we know how much of an investment it is for international shipping. I checked with our customer service team and it looks like we never received an email from you. We sincerely apologize about this as sometimes we experience some back end errors. If you ever have any questions, please contact us directly at support@ripstopbytheroll.com and we will get back to you in 1-2 business days.

Just Works

Used this to make a rain skirt, a couple dry bags and a DIY pump for my Big Agnes sleeping pad. Took it up to Alaska for a week where the waterproof claims were thoroughly tested. Everything stayed bone dry.

That is SO great to hear! We are glad your items are Alaska Approved! We would love to see pictures of your creations, here is a link if you'd like to share any.
