I purchased this material to make a backpacking tarp. This material had more stretch diagonally than I expected. I based my choice on a SilPoly tent I own which is made of a heavier weight material. I have not completed the tarp yet so I don't know if the stretch will be an issue.
Hey George, 1.1 oz Silpoly is a go-to fabric for tarps because it will minimize sag/stretch when wet compared to 1.1 oz Silnylon. You made the right choice! Let us know if you have any questions about your tarp build, we're always here to help!
I purchased the silpoly as part of the winter tarp kit. The fabric is really easy to work with and is really good at handling the rain storms. It is lighter weight without breaking the bank.
Thanks for leaving us a review Timothy! We're glad the 1.1 oz Silpoly foots the bill for your Winter Tarp! We'd love to see photos of your creation, be sure to tag us on social media!
I like this material. I made a tarp with the membrane Silpoly and I loved it, but it was a little bit fragile (at least for my gear). I am hoping that this will be slightly tougher, but I'll still be careful with it. I was wondering if it would be bulkier and heavier feeling, but so far I can't tell the difference and I almost think it is packing into the stuff sack better than my first tarp (maybe because fabric is brand new and not exposed to outside yet?). Good stuff.
Thanks for your review Scott! We're glad to hear you're loving the 1.1 Silpoly for your new tarp. MEMBRANE Silpoly is much more delicate of a fabric. If you're harder on your gear, this is a gear choice. Be sure to share photos with us on social media, we'd love to see your creation!
Fabric is bright and strong. Ive been making a bivvy and making joins with silicon and it works a treat. A little thinner than i was thinking but thats my fault nothing to do with RBTR
Thanks James! We're glad you love the color options of the 1.1 oz Silpoly, makes for a great bivy sack. We'd love to see photos of your creation be sure to tag us on social media!
I have zero complaints about the material. Very lightweight, no flaws whatsoever. The only issue is the "Coyote" color is not the typical coyote brown used in other applications. This not necessarily a bad thing in my case but beware if that's what you're looking for. I would say the "Coyote" color that I received on two orders is more like a dark chocolate color/coffee color.
Hey David! Thanks for your honest review. We're sorry that the color wasn't quite what you were expecting. We can offer samples in the future to make sure the color is exactly what you are looking for. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org
