Having used 1.1 silpoly for tarp beaks and the various membrane fabrics for quilts I can safely say that the ease of sewing the 1.6oz silpoly is more than worth any miniscule weight savings you get from lighter fabrics for small items like stuff sacks, drybags, rain skirts, etc. I made a few pack covers for members of our scout troop and rectangle bottom sleep system packing cube for myself. A simple 1.6oz silpoly pack cover is still lighter than most commercially available $20+ options and offers reasonable durability.
Thanks for your review Jody! If you love working with the 1.6 Silpoly we also offer it in custom printing! It would be cool to see the Boy Scout logo or Troop on gear for the scouts! If you have any questions about custom printing or future projects, be sure to reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org we're here to help!
Thank you so much for your review!
This has a little more structure and strength than 1.1 for not really being noticeably heavier. I think I will use this more, unless I really need the lightest weight (which realistically I don't need.)
Thanks Dan! It's hard to go wrong with the 1.6 oz Silpoly. We'd love to see photos of your finished project, be sure to tag us on social media!
Product looks good. Arrived accordingly.
Thanks for the review Scott! Let us know if you have questions about creating with the 1.6 oz Silpoly.
Great! Planning to use this as a ground sheet for our new Drop X-Mid 2P Tent. Dan Durston listed out measurements and recommended this fabric. Arrived right on time so we could set up the tent and get it the right size underneath.
Awesome! Thanks for the review Marlee, let us know if you have any questions about future projects!
