I used this to make another gathered end extra long and wide hammock. The finished item came out to 12' 4", and was 70" wide. After installing continuous loops and the ridgeline, the total weight was less than 4 oz. Definitely recommend this material for "big boy" hammocks!
Thanks so much Patrick! That sounds like an awesome hammock, we'd love to see photos. Be sure to tag us on social media or email email@example.com
This is my favorite fabric for hammocks. It has a great feel to it and it is strong enough and wide enough for a single layer double hammock. Max weight 400 lbs according to RSBTR’s fabric comparison chart.

1.7 oz MTN XL Hybrid Ripstop Nylon
I used mine to construct some light weight, durable, breathable, and easy to clean hiking hats. The one I've built so far turned out well. This is not as shiny as other ripstop fabrics I have experimented with which is what I was looking for since I didn't want flashy looking hats. It is strong. I thought it would be way more delicate than it was considering how light it was. It is also nice because it is not as slippery as some other types of ripstop fabrics, so you don't have to be as vigilant about it slipping in the sewing machine. Finally, for a ripstop fabric it feels okay against the skin. In fact, I did not notice it as I wore the hat I made. Some other ripstop fabrics feel as if I have a hat made out of a plastic bag against my skin, even if they are made of breathable materials. Hopefully, this will prove to be a long lasting and durable fabric and I have only had the hat I made for about two weeks.
Thanks for the review Shawn! We love how durable this 1.7 oz MTN Hybrid is. We'd love to see photos of your hiking hats, be sure to tag us on social media!
