MEMBRANE 15 is our ultralight 15 denier taffeta polyester. Like MEMBRANE® 10 nylon taffeta, MEMBRANE 15 combines breathability, wind resistance, and exceptional downproofing with the softest hand feel on the market.
To make MEMBRANE 15, we start with a custom woven, high thread-count polyester base material. In addition to adding durability, this reduces moisture absorption compared to a nylon base.
Combined with a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating, the result is significantly less weight gain and improved comfort (i.e. no clammy feeling) when the fabric is subjected to rain or highly humid environments.
All this makes MEMBRANE 15 excel in variety of applications including quilts, jackets, sleeping bags, garments, linings, and more.

It took some experimenting but I managed to make a lightweight jacket that I'm quite proud of. 75/11 Microtex on the sewing machine and 90/14 Sharp on the serger did the trick. I'd post pictures if I could figure out how.
Hey Randy! Thanks for the review and we would love to see pics of your jacket. You can tag us on social media or email us at social@ripstopbytheroll.com. It sounds like an awesome project!
this is a light fabric! out of the box this stuff seems intimidating due to how light the fabric is but it worked easily on my brother 1500. i used it as a top on a bivi sac and have had no issues with condensation (dry California). if you like this and want even more breathable look at monolite its big fun.
they need more and better colors though for the poly tafeta.
Thanks for the review Tracy! We're glad it worked well for the top on the bivy! We'd love to see photos of your project.
I made 2 under quilts and 1 top quilt with this fabric.
It is a little heavier than the membrane10 taffeta, but I felt it was easy to handle because there was little stitching shrinkage.
Also, as explained, it kept a dry texture even when exposed to moisture.
Smooth to the touch, my burnt orange is vibrant and my favorite color.
I would appreciate it if you could add more color variations.
RBTR is quick to work and delivers the best fabrics to Japan in as little as 4 days!
Pretty easy to work with and it looks great. Much less slippery then the .66 Membrane (though that has a silkier feel).
I am making a quilt/sleeping bag liner from 3 yards of 0.9 oz membrane taffeta. I use adhesive, washable basting tape to counter the slipperiness of the fabric, all is proceeding well. Very happy once again with my purchase.
