We had all but given up on sub 1.0 oz woven fabrics. Then along came MONOLITE...

Ultralight woven fabrics are great for quilts and garments. But durability can take a nosedive for stressing applications like hammocks and bags.

MONOLITE was developed to combat this problem. Constructed with a unique monofilament yarn and mesh weave, this fabric has the best durability we've EVER seen for the weight - and by a wide margin.

Used as a woven fabric, it's strong plus much more resistant to snagging and abrasion than fabrics of similar weight (e.g. 1.1 oz Ripstop Nylon).

As a mesh, it blows away traditional options like our 0.9 oz Noseeum. It's stronger, way more durable, and insanely breathable with a CFM over 1000 (full data sheet here).

Whether used as a fabric or mesh, it's stiffer with more structure than your typical ultralight fabric. This makes it a lot easier to sew.

Lastly, as part of our larger green fabric initiative, 1.0 oz MONOLITE uses a more ECO friendly, C6 DWR (Durable Water Repellant). This gives the fabric water resistance while mitigating the environmental impact. If you're interested in reading more on topic of DWR, check out this article from Patagonia.com.

Typical applications for MONOLITE include ultralight hammocks, bugnetting, tent screens, stuff sacks, lightweight bags, or garment lining material.

That sounds like a project we have to see photos of! It also sounds like something we need to create ourselves! Here is a link if you'd like to share any photos

Mesh Hammock Kit is great

My kids are heading to Seabase this year and I made them mesh hammocks to help with the heat. The material was easy to sew and feels nice!

That is an awesome project for the kids! They will definitely sleep much cooler in the MONOLITE hammocks. Good luck to them at Seabase, sounds really fun!

Monolite mesh

I love this fabric. It is see-through as a mesh, light, but very strong. There are many vibrant colors. I made some traveling bags for garment. I made pockets for many bags. I also used it as a lining of a hat to make it cooler. I am going to make some produce bags soon.

Ami, those all sound like awesome projects! MONOLITE is one of our favorite fabrics because of its versatility. We're glad you found so many uses for it. Happy making!
